Drill Week--Semana de Simulacros

We will be practicing our safety drills the next few weeks this includes fire, lockdown, and tornado drills.

Over the next few weeks, the Joliet Police and Fire Department will be on site supervising our annual lockdown and fire drills.

Practicaremos nuestros simulacros de seguridad durante las próximas semanas, esto incluye simulacros de incendio, bloqueo y tornado.

Durante las próximas semanas, el Departamento de Policía y el Departamento de Bomberos de Joliet estarán en el lugar supervisando nuestros simulacros anuales de encierro e incendio.

Tardy Policy--Política de Tardanzas

Friendly reminder, if your child(ren) is late a parent/guardian must come to the office and sign them in. We will begin to count tardies starting Sept. 1st.

Recordatorio: si su(s) hijo(s) llega(n) tarde, un padre/tutor debe venir a la oficina y registrarlo. Comenzaremos a contar las tardanzas a partir del 1 de septiembre.

I-Ready

Dear Families,  

I am excited to share that our school is implementing a mathematics and reading program called i-Ready.  

What is i-Ready?  

i-Ready is an online program that will help us determine your student’s strengths and areas for growth, personalize their learning, and monitor their progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows us to meet your student where they are and provides us with data to inform instruction.  

The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions based on student responses. Each item a student receives is based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier ones. The purpose of this is not to give your student a score or grade but to determine how to best support their learning.  

What can I do to help?  

To help prepare your student for the i-Ready Diagnostic, encourage them to:   

• Get a good night’s sleep and eat a full breakfast the day of the assessment.  

• Try their best on each question and try not to rush.  

• Try not to worry about questions to which they do not know the answers—remind them that it is expected that they will only get about half of the questions correct.  

• Be respectful of other students who take longer to finish.  

• Use paper and pencil to show work for math questions. 

What happens next?  

The i-Ready Diagnostic will provide results that help me identify your student’s strengths and determine next steps for instruction. I look forward to sharing these results with you throughout the year and providing a learning experience that will engage your student while teaching important skills and concepts.

Estimados padres/madres y tutores/as:  

Me emociona compartir con ustedes que nuestro/a colegio está implementando un programa Matemáticas y Lectura llamado i-Ready. A continuación, encontraras información sobre el programa y cómo lo usaremos en el salon.  

¿Qué es i-Ready?  

i-Ready es un programa en línea que nos ayudará a determinar los puntos fuertes y áreas que mejorar de tu hijo/a, a personalizar su aprendizaje y a supervisar su progreso durante el año escolar. i-Ready nos permite saber el nivel de tu hijo/a y nos proporciona datos para orientar la enseñanza.  

El Diagnóstico de i-Ready consiste en una evaluación adaptativa que elabora las preguntas para ajustarse a las necesidades del niño/a. Cada elemento que recibe el alumno se basa en la respuesta a la pregunta anterior. Por ejemplo, una serie de respuestas correctas hará que se generen preguntas un poco más difíciles y una serie de respuestas incorrectas un poco más fáciles. El objetivo de esto no es poner una nota o calificación a tu hijo/a, sino determinar la mejor forma de apoyar su aprendizaje.  

¿Qué puedo hacer para ayudar?  

Para ayudar a preparar al alumno para el Diagnóstico de i-Ready, anímale a que:   

• Duerma bien y desayune bien el día de la evaluación.  

• Haga todo lo posible en cada pregunta y no tenga prisa.  

• Trate de no preocuparse por las preguntas que no sepa: recuérdale que se espera que responda la mitad de las preguntas correctamente.  

• Sea respetuoso con otros alumnos que tarden más en terminar.  

• Usa papel y lápiz para mostrar el trabajo para las preguntas de matemáticas. 

¿Qué pasa después?  

El Diagnóstico de i-Ready proporcionará resultados que me ayudarán a identificar los puntos fuertes de tu hijo/a y a determinar los pasos siguientes para la enseñanza. Espero poder compartir esos resultados contigo durante todo el año y ofrecer una experiencia de aprendizaje en la que tu hijo/a participe mientras aprende habilidades y conceptos importantes.

Schedule Change

There will be no school on Monday, October 13th in observance of Columbus Day.

Picture Day Attire Guidelines (pg. 54)

Students are welcome to dress up or wear their regular school uniform for picture day. Jeans are allowed, but they must be paired with a nice top, such as a dressy blouse or a button-up shirt.

Girls may wear heels, but they must be no higher than 2 inches for safety and comfort. Please remember that all clothing should be school-appropriate and follow the school dress code.

Let’s look our best and make Picture Day a great one!

Please note: Preschool-3rd must wear gym shoes since it is a gym day.
